Knitting: Beginner

Adult Programs / Enrichment -
2025 Winter

Have you ever seen a knitting project that someone else made and thought to yourself, "I wish I could do that"? Well, here is your chance to learn how to knit! In this introductory session, you will learn the basic stitches: casting on, knit stitch, purl stitch, and casting off. Using these skills, we will be making the ever popular first project - a scarf.

Required supplies: scissors, a set of size 6 or larger needles, and a skein of worsted weight (4) yarn.

Lisa Christianson

Lisa Christianson is excited to share her passion for crocheting/knitting with you! She lives and works in Willmar, where she is in charge of the Middle School library. Lisa learned to crochet in a Willmar Community Education class 44 years ago and learned to knit from her daughter when she was 30. Lisa claims not to be an expert, but will teach you the basics so that hopefully you will love this skill and can eventually create some masterpieces of your own too.
